Patsy’s Journey

Patsy became interested in the use of therapeutic music during the decline of her father's and mother-in-law's health. Patsy became a Certified Music Practitioner® through Healing and Transition Program, Inc. ™ in 2012. Patsy chose Music for Healing and Transition Program™, because the program covers a broad spectrum of healing techniques and certifies musicians in a variety of instruments.

Following completion of her MHTP academic modules and exams, Patsy began her 45-hour internship, which includes only time spent making music for patients. Patsy’s internship sites included Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Baylor All Saints Medical Center and VITAS Innovative Hospice Inpatient Unit in Fort Worth, and THR Presbyterian Hospital in Allen.

Patsy’s MHTP certification includes harp, voice, and piano.

Patsy is a private voice teacher who began teaching singing in 1994, and continues teaching in her private studio. She served on the faculties of three colleges and taught private voice in several North Texas school districts, and she served as choir section leader at two large Dallas churches.

Patsy holds an MA in Vocal Pedagogy and a BA in Music from Texas Woman’s University and a BA in English from West Texas A & M University, and she is certified in Somatic Voicework©. She did additional graduate studies in theology, organizational behavior and music. Patsy studied harp privately in high school, and resumed her private harp studies in 2006.
